The last stop of my Hawaiian getaway…The Royal Hawaiian, Honolulu located on the famous Waikiki beach boasts beautiful views of a gentle surf , soft sandy beaches and the turquoise waters of the Pacific. Also seen from the hotel, the tuff cone, known as Diamond Head sits in the background and at 762 ft. tall it’s perfect for that birds eye view of Honolulu, not to mention a great hike to the top. The Royal Hawaiian opened in 1927,  and with a loyal history connecting it to Hawaiian culture,  it is affectionately known as the “Pink Palace of the Pacific”. Even if you don’t stay here it is worth your time to stop by and check out the front drive and entry leading up to the hotel. The lush tropical garden and huge trees are a welcome sight in the middle of downtown Honolulu and if you are looking for a place for dinner make a reservation for a beachside table at their restaurant… You won’t be disappointed.

This tree sets the scene for what awaits inside. I won’t spoil it for you but here is a view of the pool from our room.

Certainly a tempting sight after a long day of walking around town.

Another great view of Diamond Head and a must do hike while you are here. Be sure to take your camera along for the unbelievable views from the top. Wear hiking shoes, my favorites are by Salomon, take along some water to be more comfortable and don’t forget your sunscreen. Although the temperatures are comfortable, it can be deceiving the amount of sun exposure your getting until it’s too late. Check out the chemical free sunscreen and lip balm by BeautyCounter I took along HERE : www.beautycounter.com/melissawilliams1/…..> Salomon Hiking shoes

Tropical palm trees line the Waikiki beach, and with the gentle surf  and soft sand I think I’m in love. Time to pick a spot and read a good book as I listen to the tide come in. Writing about it makes me wish I was there right now. I did read a good book while I was there,   Girl On A Train It is a fairly quick read that I found to be quite entertaining but not too intense for a vacation read. Hope you enjoy. The Royal Hawaiian Honolulu

Nothing more relaxing than a walk along the beach on a beautiful day in Hawaii. A tunic over my swimsuit and swim shorts gives me the flexibility to get in the water or stop by a beachfront restaurant for a bite to eat. Honolulu is a great place to do a little shopping. Unlike most of the other islands you can find just about any store you can imagine here. From high end fashion to local made goods, Honolulu is sure to meet your expectations for shopping. I prefer to wear a dress when I’m shopping and sight seeing because I never know where I might end up. Wearing a cute comfy casual dress will take me just about anywhere I want to go around town feeling put together and stylish. Details here…>Dress
